Hey guys, quick little back to work update. All’s well and I still remember how to do my job (bit rusty maybe). Miss the munchkin of course but I just try and make all the moments count. Monday is always the hardest day of the week for most as it’s getting back into the work mindset after a weekend off.
Today however is known as Blue Monday. It is supposed to fall on the third Monday in January. So apparently this is the most depressing day of the year according to psychologists. The weather is usually bad, it’s been a few weeks since the high of Christmas and New year. Some people may have debt and their next paycheck isn’t due until next Friday. You may have fallen off the resolution wagon by now. It’s all a bit miserable really.
I can speak from experience that depression doesn’t wait to appear once a year however. It can strike at any time and can be seemingly for no reason. People can look at the outward appearance of someone’s life and think what they may have to be depressed about. Sometimes the people who seem to have all their shit together are the ones who are struggling the most.
You never really know what’s going on inside someone. I try and be kind because who knows what someone has had to deal with on any given day. There are some things that work for me that you can try if you have a regular case of the blues.
Call a friend sometimes a good old chat can be really therapeutic. Call your bestie and put the world to rights.
Make plans have something nice to focus on. Maybe a shopping spree, day out with family, a holiday. It could be something as simple as setting aside some regular ‘me’ time for self care.
Sing put a CD on. Or Alexa for all you cool kids. Crank it up and have a wail. Make sure the neighbours can hear!
Get active go for a walk, dance in your living room, jump on the trampoline with the kids. If you can get outside in daylight hours that may help too.
Vitamin D I heard this can help too particularly if you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.
This is just my list of things. Please feel free to add more in the comments if something works for you.
Sometimes it’s a bit more complicated than just a case of the blues and although the list above may help somewhat you should always seek a Doctor’s advice if you are feeling very low or if you have any thoughts about harming yourself.
If you are struggling right now please reach out to a friend or a family member. If this is too difficult for you to do I am not a therapist but I will listen and I will care, my Instagram inbox is always open. I would encourage you to see your GP who hopefully can help with medication and signpost you to mental health services.

I related to this because I used to suffer with depression and anxiety. I write a lot about this on my blog and even though I used to have this, at times it does strike at me once in a while. It sucks but I put some worship music and keep it going. I love this post so much girl thanks for sharing trust me this will speak to some people out there that want to see a post like this one. Love ya!
